Works orders, material shortfall and production in TranZact

How a Nashik electronics maker replaced an old, half-used ERP and runs BOMs, purchase from shortfall and production in TranZact.

Before

The old wayPaper trail

TAS Powertek designs and manufactures electronic products for B2B customers. Products are standard, with versions, and some are made for OEM customers.

Each customer order became an internal works order. That was split into internal manufacturing orders, which gave the material requirement and the shortfall to buy. Some processes went to outside processors, some ran in-house, and every product was assembled, tested and calibrated before dispatch.

All of this sat in an old ERP built by a local developer. It was never fully in use, and its support had become poor.

From that IMO, material requirement is generated, material shortfall is generated, from that shortfall the purchase orders are generated.

What changed

  1. BOMs in TranZact for each product, so material needs come from the BOM.

  2. Purchase from the plan

Indents, then purchase orders, then inward and GRN.

  3. Production entries logged against BOMs, with delivery challans for material that goes out.

  4. Tally sync for invoices.

What they use TranZact for today

As of October 2026, TAS Powertek uses TranZact to:

  • Maintain BOMs and log production entries

  • Raise indents, create purchase orders and receive material through GRNs

  • Send material out on delivery challans

  • Raise sales orders and invoices, synced to Tally
